LEARNERS’ ATTITUDE, MOTIVATION, AND HABIT TOWARD READING IN SECOND LANGUAGE

The key in language learning and acquisition is exposure towards said language. most feasible for English learners the EFL setting reading due to practicality, continuity, suitable sources. Their success depends on their attitude, motivation, habit. This research sought determine state of learners’ habit toward English. qualitative exploratory was initiated 2020, taking place at State Islamic University Raden Intan Lampung (UIN RIL) Indonesian Maritime Polytechnic (Polimarin). population included registered those two universities, with 88 (51.8%) from UIN RIL 82 (48.2%) Polimarin selected through quota sampling. A 20 items-questionnaire, complemented by some interview sessions, were used collect data. collected data then processed a model consisting four stages; collection, reduction, display, conclusion drawing. results revealed that showed generally favourable attitude stemmed good responses shown all factors attitude. It should be noted previous experience factor unfavourable one poor start activity. Meanwhile, mixed regarding motivation Two factors, access materials proficiency, ones need further attention, as still lacked regard. Ultimately, habits deficient native even more so habits.
